Effective Meeting Management 14 PDU's * July 11-August 7 * Asynchronous, on-line
Proven Methods to Decrease Wasted Time in Meetings and Increase Participant Engagement
* Research by the Wharton Center of Applied Research, 2003, shows: Senior management spend at least 23 hours per week in meetings * According to Farrell, 1999: The average manager spends ½ of their work time in meetings (this may be higher for PM’s) * Up to 25% of time and allocated resources are lost because of poorly run meetings.
Why Does This Program Work?
Chances are, you have been involved in meetings that were poorly run. Perhaps you
had no idea what the expectations of the meeting were. Perhaps the meeting was derailed
because of interruptions and
Understanding why you should call a meeting, who should be involved, how to properly prepare and execute the meeting, and how to manage poor meeting behaviors can decrease frustrations, ineffective communications, and project problems. This program is designed as an e-seminar, audio program, and on-site workshop. Tools and skills to manage these issues for a more productive team are also explored.
Each of our courses is developed with results in mind. They incorporate action towards desired participant goals based on extensive research. We encourage high levels of participation and practice to achieve each individual's objective.
How Does This Program Immediately Benefit Your Project and Team?
With all of the occurrences in projects today, meetings are inevitable. Poor meetings are not. How can one prepare so the meeting wastes little time, involves everyone needed, and negates undesirable behavior that would throw the meeting into a whirlwind?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
Learn the different meeting types, how to prepare for them, and how to manage (or prevent) undesirable meeting behavior. Adopt tools to implement a smooth and efficient meeting Learn important skills of communication and how the delivery impacts performance, cohesion and results Receive suggestions and “lessons learned” from those involved in the course: Personalized responses for enhanced project meetings! Discern among the vast project meetings and when or how to best implement each one. Learn to handle difficult people in meetings with results in mind Skills apply to every level of your organization and may create success in all departments
How It Works: Once you have registered, you will receive an email with the instructions to access the course beginning July 11. You can respond to the modules at any time convenient for you. Colleagues and Dr. Dawdy will supply thoughts to your post, and you to theirs. It is interactive, convenient, and most importantly: results-oriented! You have any time between July 11 and August 7 to complete the course, but it is highly recommended to block out 2-4 hours each of the four weeks for greatest interaction and course collaboration.

I was half expecting to find a dry, boring course on the soft-skills for effective meeting management, but instead I found a course that I thought was easy to follow, very interesting and something that I could relate to in my current role. I found the choice of course text to be excellent both as a use for a course as well as a reference manual which I can pick up anything I want to run a particular meeting. The discussion forum allows for a level of frankess that can sometimes be misleading in group discussions (especially when people know each other), and the overal user interface was very simple. A course, and presentation mechanism well worth going to. ~ Paul O’Connor, HP.
This is my second course from Gwynne and I would readily take another. She is a fantastic coach and I have already forwarded her emails of upcoming courses to my company’s training PoC. This was very relevant to what I am working on right now and I am looking forward to putting some of the processes I learned through this course into practice.
~ Kimberly Stanbro, PMP, Summit Solutions, LLC
This course was very helpful in many ways – learned new tools and techniques for facilitating (and communicating), used a new approach for receiving the training, and “met” some very interesting colleagues. I would recommend this course for anyone developing their facilitation skills at any level of experience! ~ Deniese Itz, PMP
Dr. Dawdy has put together a great summary course on effect project manager facilitation. The materials are packed with great templates and how to information to keep your project on track. I wish many stakeholders, executives and PMs would go back to the basics presented by the PMBOK® Guide, some common sense and good old fashion communication. ~ Best regards, Larry O’Brian, PMP,
Project Management Institute, Central Ohio Chapter Coordinator.
