The Cost of Disengaged Employees: Wasted Time & Lost Resources

*  Research by the Halliwells Group, 2006, shows:

  - 40% of the 1600 professional respondents note they waste a “considerable amount of time” or “a lot of time” dealing with problem employees and over 1/3 note this occurs on a weekly or monthly basis.

*  According to Complete Potential, 2006:

   - In the UK, it is estimated 20% of employees are disengaged and cost organizations 37 billion pounds annually

*  In the US, it is estimated that 17% of employees are disengaged, costing organizations $300 billion annually.

Why Does This Program Work?

It appears that we have all worked with “jerks”… people who have a knack for practicing our pet peeves to the fullest. While these problem people and pet peeves are very frustrating (and often demotivating!), they are typically easily remedied with a few strategies and simple reframing. Understanding how to manage these behaviors can decrease frustrations, ineffective communications, and project problems. Tools and skills to manage these issues for a more productive team are also explored in this course.

This is a results driven program, covering not only the “why’s and what’s” but also the “so, now what” elements. Participants will be able to take with them ideas and step by step methods to better manage people problems  and to successfully navigate your team through the project.

First, I would like to say that the Pet Peeves and Problem People Online Course provided a safe forum to share experiences and find ways collectively with our peers to solve issues. My Project Team will have various recommendations for resolution shared among the team. I would highly recommend this course to any Project Manager who wants to reflect on their personal style when working with these Pet Peeves and Problem People. It will amaze you of the misconceptions we all have for addressing issues and how we can become more effective in our reaction to opportunities. ~ Audrey Huber, PMP, Thomson West

I highly recommend the Pet Peeves Problem People course to anyone that is involved with not only project management, but team building in general. This course makes excellent suggestions and gives great advice on how to handle problem-people. This course could have also been named "Answers to Questions Leaders are Afraid to Ask but Need to Know." Thank you, Dr. Dawdy, for listening to requests and designing this workshop. ~ Michael Villarreal, PMP

I think everyone should take this course, not just PMP's or people in leadership positions. The material is relevant to anyone who interacts with other people in the normal course of their day, but it is particularly important for those in leadership positions. The course offers no-nonsense, easy to implement ideas that will yield real, positive results quickly. I even found tips I coulduse in my personal relationships! ~ Theresia H.
